Klahn Reaches Singles, Doubles Finals At ITA Northwest Regionals
Oct. 26, 2009
BERKELEY, Calif.- Bradley Klahn will play for a singles and doubles championship on Tuesday when play concludes at the Wilson/ITA Northwest Regional Championships.
Klahn, the tournament's No. 2 seed, meets California's Pedro Zerbini, the event's No. 4 seed, in the title match after defeating teammate Richard Wire 6-2, 6-3 in an all-Stanford semifinal on the lower half of the bracket.
In an all-California semifinal on the flipside, Zerbini downed teammate Bo Katsarov 6-2, 6-2.
Last year, Klahn dropped a hard-fought, three-set decision to teammate Alex Clayton in the singles championship.
Meanwhile in doubles, Klahn and Ryan Thacher will challenge Fresno State's Mirko Zapletal and Taylor Leiby in Tuesday's final. The top doubles team in the draw, Klahn and Thacher coasted past California's team of Chris Konigsfldt and Nick Andrews 8-3 in the semifinals.
Klahn has also experience playing deep into the tournament on the doubles side, reaching the semifinals last year with Alex Clayton. And he has pulled the double victory off once already in his career, becoming just the fourth player in school history to claim both the Pac-10 Singles and Doubles Championships in 2009.
