• Vote For Lowe's Senior CLASS Award Nominee Rylan Hawkins (Once Per Day Allowed)

SEATTLE - The Washington men's soccer team landed three players on the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team, with seniors Rylan Hawkins and Adam Lang and sophomore Brent Richards all being named to the District VIII First Team.

Hawkins, a goalkeeper, is a Computer Engineering major with a 3.92 GPA, one of the highest among all UW athletes. He is currently one of 10 finalists across the nation for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award, which honors players for achievement in four areas - classroom, character, community and competition. Along with being one of the top goalkeepers in the Pac-10 and a Husky captain, Hawkins is known for his fundraising work in Seattle as well as his efforts in improving online registration for UW students.

A Shoreline, Wash., native, Hawkins has recorded five shutouts and a 0.84 goals against average this season. This is the second consecutive season he has been named to the All-District First Team.

Lang, a defender, carries a 3.47 GPA in Economics. One of just two Huskies to start in every match this season, Lang has helped the Husky defense to a 0.84 GAA and five shutouts thus far. In seven conference matches, the Huskies have allowed just five goals, the fewest in the Pac-10.

The Chilliwack, B.C., native has been named to the Pac-10 All-Academic team in each of the last two seasons, but this marks his first Academic All-District nod.

Richards, a forward, has a 3.63 GPA in his second year with the Huskies. After leading the team with eight goals as a freshman last season, the Camas, Wash., native is again leading the scoring charge for UW as his 11 points are tops on the team. He is tied for the team lead with four goals while his three assists lead the squad.

This is Richards' first Academic All-District honor.

All three will now go on the ballot for the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America teams, which will be announced in the coming weeks.

The Huskies hit the road this weekend to face San Diego State on Friday at 3 p.m. and No. 4 UCLA on Sunday at 1 p.m. before returning home for their final regular-season game on Saturday, Nov. 14 at 5 p.m.
