Three Bruins Advance in Qualifying at So. Cal Intercollegiates

LOS ANGELES - The UCLA men's tennis team had a trio of players each win two qualifying matches on Wednesday to advance to the main draw of tomorrow's Southern California Intercollegiate Championships being played this week at UCLA's Los Angeles Tennis Center.

Alex Brigham, Ahmed Ismail and Jeff Gast all advanced through the qualifying draw without dropping a set Wednesday. Evan Lee won his first-round match, however fell in the second round to UC Irvine's Stephen Stege.

Second Round Qualifying (Winners advance to Thursday's main draw)

Ahmed Ismail def. John Park (UCR), 7-6, 6-3
Alex Brigham def. Jake Fellow (UCSD), 6-2, 6-2
Jeff Gast def. Quoc Doan (UCR), 7-5, 7-6

Main draw singles action starts tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. There will be two rounds of singles played followed by qualifying doubles. There is no charge for admission to any of the matches at the Southern California Intercollegiates.
