Albright Named to All-Academic First Team

PULLMAN, Wash. -- Washington State's Jackie Albright has been named to the 2009 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VIII first team for University Division Women's Volleyball as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Albright, a senior outside hitter from Lake Forest, Calif., was named to the six-member District VIII 2009 first team. She has a 3.56 grade point average and is majoring in civil engineering with a May 2010 graduation date.
A two-year tri-captain for the Cougar volleyball team, Albright was named to the 2009 Nike Cougar Invite all-tournament team. She is second on team with 2.88 kills per set, third on the team with 3.23 points per set, and adds 2.99 digs per set. During the 2009 season, she has had 10 matches with double-digit kills and 14 matches with double-figure digs. During her four-year career at WSU, Albright has accumulated 874 kills, 894 digs and 47 aces in 354 sets (109 matches). She is a two-time Pac-10 All-Academic honorable mention team selection.
To be eligible for the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American honors a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), must be a significant contributor to the team, and be in at least their second season at their current school. District VIII includes schools in the states of Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and British Columbia.
