Men's Hoops Hosts Western Oregon in Final Exhibition Game

CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Oregon State men's basketball team returns to action this weekend as the Beavers close out the exhibition portion of its schedule when they face Western Oregon on Saturday, Nov. 7, at 1:00 p.m. Tickets to the contest are $12 and $7 and are available for purchase by visiting osubeavers.com.
The game marks the second and final game of the exhibition portion of the schedule as Oregon State opened the 2009-10 season with a convincing, 94-53 victory over Southern Oregon on Sunday. Four Oregon State players scored in double figures while the defense forced 22 Raider turnovers in 41-point win.
Omari Johnson led four Oregon State players in double figures with 16 points as the junior connected on 6-of-8 from the floor.
Oregon State shot 56.5 percent from the floor (35-of-62) while holding Southern Oregon to just 37.5 percent (18-of-48) from the field.
Western Oregon opened up its season on Wednesday against Portland State as the Vikings defeated the Wolves, 108-65.
Rico Myles and Gabe Thrash led the way for Western Oregon in the loss. Myles poured in 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting to go along with seven rebounds and four assists in 22 minutes of play. Thrash added 10 points off the bench as he went 5-of-8 from the field.
Western Oregon, a NCAA Division II institution and member of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference, returns two starters and seven letter-winners from a squad that finished the 2008-09 season with a mark of 10-17.

The contest is a 'Bi-Mart Two for One' game as fans can present their Bi-Mart card at the Oregon State ticket office when gates open for one free general admission ticket with the purchase of one by showing their Bi-Mart card. In addition, fans holding a men's basketball ticket stub receive half-price admission for the Oregon State volleyball match against Arizona on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
Following the game against Western Oregon, Oregon State will open the 2009-10 regular season on Friday, Nov. 13, at 6:00 p.m. at the Duel in the Desert when the Beavers face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in Lubbock, Texas.
