Breshers Itching To Play

Nov. 7, 2009

After sitting out the 2008-09 basketball season while recovering from surgery on his leg, Husky redshirt freshman Tyreese Breshers is itching to show UW hoops fans what he can do. He gave the Dawg Pack and other fans a nice taste of what he can do by scored six points and grabbing five rebounds in 14 minutes of action. How does it feel to be back into the basketball season?

Tyreese Breshers: 'It feels good. I've been sitting out a long time, but now I'm feeling good. It's been a long time coming.' You sat out all last season. That had to hurt. Are you hungrier this year?

TB: 'I'm definitely hungry. I was hungry since the day I came here but it hurt me because I expected to play last year, but it didn't work out the way I planned on it. But, I guess everything happens for a reason.' How is your health? Do you feel like you're getting better?

TB: 'I'm definitely better than last year. I've been working out every day. The pain is still kind of there, but it's not going to limit me.' Being a big body that you are, people are sort of looking to you to help fill the role Jon Brockman left last year. Talk about some of the differences between you and Brockman, and what you're going to bring this year.

TB: 'As we all know, Jon was a great rebounder so it's going to take a team-wide effort to help on the rebounding. I just plan on being a good defender, doing everything the coaches ask me to do, and playing hard. Doing everything that I have to do.' Talk about the three man repertoire inside (Breshers, Matthew Bryan-Amaning, Darnell Gant). How's that going to work in terms of beating people up inside?

TB: 'I think it's good because we all bring something different to the table. I'm strong, Matthew's quick, and Darnell can shoot. It's going to be a matchup difference between all of us.'
