O'Hara Named Player of the Week

Nov. 10, 2009

STANFORD, Calif. - Senior forward Kelley O'Hara was selected as the Pac-10 Player of the Week after scoring three goals in a 4-1 victory over rival Cal on Sunday to help Stanford complete a 20-0 regular season.

O'Hara scored twice on headers at the back post, first after a corner kick was headed directly to O'Hara by a Cal player, and next on a perfect service from defender Rachel Quon, both in the first half.

O'Hara scored her third when defender Alicia Jenkins sent in a long ball and O'Hara cut inside the box to get there and first-time a shot for the goal.

It was her second hat trick of the season and enabled her to break and pull away from Sarah Rafanelli's school goal-scoring record of 20 that had stood since 1993. O'Hara now has 23.

The weekly honor was the second of the season for O'Hara, who leads her team into the NCAA Tournament and a first-round home match against Northern Arizona on Thursday at 7 p.m.
