Stanford's O'Hara Named Pac-10 Women's Soccer Player of the Week
Nov. 10, 2009
WALNUT CREEK, CALIF. - STANFORD senior forward Kelley O'Hara has been named the Pac-10 Women's Soccer Player of the Week for Nov. 3-9, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today.
The senior from Fayetteville, Ga. played a big role in extending Stanford's undefeated season as she netted a hat trick in the Cardinal's 4-1 victory over Bay Area- rival California. The three goals push O'Hara's season total to 23, a new Stanford single-season record for goals scored, breaking the old record of 20 which had stood since 1993. O'Hara also ranks second in the country with 2.75 goals per game.
O'Hara has had a hat trick in two games this season, the first coming on Oct. 11 against Oregon. She becomes the first Cardinal player since Erin Martin in 1993 to register multiple hat tricks in a single season.
O'Hara will now lead the undefeated Cardinal into the NCAA Tournament, where the squad will play host to Northern Arizona in the first round on Thursday, November 12 at 7 p.m. at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium.
This is the fourth Player of the Week selection in O'Hara's career and Stanford's 26th selection all-time, tying them with UCLA for the most of any Conference team.
Also Nominated: Alexandra Elston, ASU; Alex Morgan, CAL; Melinda Ingalls, OSU; Claire Schloemer, USC; Alex Kirk, WASH.
