Men's Soccer Travels to Washington for Season Finale

Nov. 12, 2009

Corvallis, Ore. - The Oregon State men's soccer team travels north to face off with conference rival Washington in its regular season game of the year Saturday, Nov. 14 starting at 5 p.m.

Oregon State is coming off of a weekend where it played No. 5 UCLA to a 1-1 draw and beat No. 25 San Diego State 2-1 for the second time this season.

Sophomore goalkeeper Steve Spangler was named to the Soccer College News National Team of the Week and Sophomore Danny Mwanga was named Pac-10 Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 2-8.

The Beavers (8-6-3 overall, 4-4-1 Pac-10) defeated the Huskies 2-0 at Paul Lorenz Field in October and look to sweep the season series this weekend. Mwanga scored both goals against the Huskies in the previous meeting and is leading the conference in goals (12).

Washington (5-6-6, 2-2-5) is led by Brent Richards with five goals and three assists on the season. It leads the all-time series 21-9-2 but the Beavers have won two out of the last three meetings between the two clubs.

Two outstanding senior defenders will be participating in their final regular season game with the Beavers, Justin Woodward and Jordan Harris. They both have made an impact in the backfield during the season but especially during Pac-10 play.
