Jacquizz Rodgers is a semi-finalist for the Doak Walker Award, given annually to the nation’s top running back. He needs your help to be Oregon State’s first ever recipient of the award. Your vote counts and you can cast it by following this link.
The 10 semifinalists for the 2009 Doak Walker Award, recognizing the nation's premier running back, have been announced. Every guy on this list knows how to make defenders look silly in the open field, but who has the right moves to outrun his peers in a wide-open field of candidates?
The Guaranty Bank SMU Athletic Forum, the organization in charge of the Doak Walker Award, will give an official vote to the winner of SportsNation's ranking. That's right, SportsNation: You have a say in the award winner. Your No. 1 running back will receive an official vote to help determine the three finalists. The 2009 Doak Walker Award recipiant will be announced live on The Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards show on Thursday, Dec. 10.
The prestigious Doak Walker Award was created in 1989 to recognize the nation's premier running back for his accomplishments on the field, achievements in the classroom and citizenship in the community. It is the only major collegiate football award that requires all candidates to be in good academic standing and on schedule to graduate within one year of other students of the same classification.
