This year's selection to the NCAA Tournament is Cal's 17th playoff bid in program history, the 11th in the last 12 years and the sixth straight.
Cal is now 2-0 all-time against Auburn.
The Bears now stand at 13-16-1 in 17 appearances NCAA Tournament. They are 2-2 when playing in Tallahassee and 2-3 in the state of Florida during the NCAA Tournament.
The Bears' trip to Florida for the NCAA Tournament is their fourth trip to Florida for the Big Dance in the past five years. Last year, Cal traveled to Gainesville for a first-round game against No. 7-seeded Florida and lost, 2-1.
Today's meeting was the second time in school history that the Bears had played the Tigers. The last times the two teams had played each other was also in the NCAA Tournament and also in Tallahassee, Fla. In 2006, Cal defeated Auburn, 3-1, to advance to the second round of the tournament.
Alex Morgan has now scored in each of Cal's last three games. She paces the Bears with 14 goals.
Cal will take on No. 1-seeded and host Florida State on Sunday, Nov. 15 at 10 a.m. PST in Tallahassee. Florida State defeated Southeastern Louisiana, 4-1, on Nov. 13 to advance to the second round.
With her 31st career goal, Morgan is now tied for fourth place all-time with Erika Hinton for career goals. She is in fifth place with 41 career points, just fourth points shy of being tied for third.
