Women's Hoops Arrives in New York

STAMFORD, Conn. -- The Arizona women's basketball team has arrived on the east coast in preparation for the season opener against Iona College tomorrow.

The Wildcats left McKale Center at 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening and bussed to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, where they boarded an 11:30 p.m. red-eye flight directly to John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City.

After arriving in the Big Apple at 5:54 a.m. local time this morning (3:54 a.m. Tucson time), the team picked up their luggage and headed to their hotel near the Connecticut/New York border. Along the way, the Cats passed through New Rochelle, N.Y., the site of their season opener.

UA will head to Iona for an 11 a.m. practice at the Mulcahy Campus Center before spending the rest of the afternoon and evening enjoying the sights and sounds of downtown Manhattan.

Arizona will take on host Iona at 7:30 p.m. ET (5:30 p.m. Tucson time) tomorrow. The game can be heard locally on KTUC 1400 AM with Derrick Palmer describing the action. The team will close out the weekend against either Miami (Ohio) or Bucknell at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.
