Beauchan Leads Bruin Swimmers On Day Two Of Toshiba Classic

Junior Brittany Beauchan highlighted the Bruin women on day two of the Toshiba Classic in Long Beach as she placed second in the 100 breaststroke. Her time of 1:02.21 was an NCAA 'B' qualifier and her finish in the race was UCLA's highest individual place thus far in the meet.

Also in the 100 breast, sophomore Kelsey Louden finished 12th overall in a time of 1:04.86.

In the 100 back, senior Isabell Fischer led the way with her seventh-place swim of 56.46. Freshman Laurence Delisle was just behind her in eighth (56.69) and sophomore Annie Stefanec was 13th in a time of 57.49 to highlight the backstrokers.

In the 200 free, junior Alex Sullivan was the highest finisher, placing 18th in a time of 1:51.58. Freshman Karoline Sanderud was 12th in the 400 IM in a time of 4:26.14.

Sophomore Yasi Jahanshahi (13th, 55.58), sophomore Bianca Casciari (14th, 55.59) and freshman Lindsey Marchand (55.67) finished within one spot of each other in the 100 fly.

The Bruin relay teams also faired well on Friday. The 200 medley relay team of Fischer, Beaucham, Marchand and sophomore Madison Fitzgerald placed fifth in a time of 1:43.97. The 800 free relay team of junior Lauren Hall, Sullivan, Delisle and freshman Andrea Reigel were fifth, swimming 7:29.80.

Competition concludes on Saturday at the Toshiba Classic with the 1650 free, 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly and 400 free relay.
