Maker, Riley Head Pac-10 All-Academic Selections

STANFORD, Calif. - Kira Maker and Ali Riley headed a group of 11 Stanford players named to the Pacific-10 Conference Women's Soccer All-Academic teams.

Maker, a junior goalkeeper, and Riley, a senior defender, were named to the first team for the second consecutive season.

In addition, junior forward Christen Press earned second-team honors for the second consecutive season.

Eight Cardinal players received honorable mention: senior midfielder Hillary Heath, senior defender Alicia Jenkins, junior midfielder Allison McCann, sophomore midfielder Teresa Noyola, senior forward Kelley O'Hara, junior forward Morgan Redman, senior midfielder Kristin Stannard, and sophomore forward Lindsay Taylor.

To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.

Maker, a human biology major with a 3.96 cumulative grade-point average, is a third-year starting goalkeeper with 11 shutouts and a 0.55 goals-against average.

Riley, a psychology major with a 3.82 GPA, was named to the 2009 All-Pac-10 first team.
