Six Bears Receive Conference All-Academic Honorable Mention

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - The Pacific-10 Conference announced its 2009 Women's Volleyball All-Academic teams on Monday, Nov. 23, with six California players receiving honorable mention recognition. Senior libero Kristen Kathan received her third honorable mention selection and was joined by two two-time honorees; junior setter Carli Lloyd and senior middle hitter Mindi Wiley.

Senior outside hitter Hana Cutura, junior defensive specialist Meagan Schmitt and sophomore outside hitter Tarah Murrey each made their first appearance on the conference all-academic honorable mention list. To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.

The No. 11-ranked Bears (18-9, 11-6 Pac-10) will take on No. 6 Stanford (20-7, 13-4 Pac-10) in the second Big Spike on Friday, Nov. 27, at 7 p.m. PT at Maples Pavilion in Stanford, Calif. The match will be broadcast via tape delay by Fox Sports Net. Please check your local listings for times and availability.
