Stanford to Face Pac-10 Rival in Semifinals

STANFORD, Calif. - The No. 1 Stanford women's soccer team will have a rematch with Pac-10 rival UCLA in the semifinals of the NCAA College Cup in College Station, Texas.

Stanford (24-0) plays UCLA (21-2-1) on Friday at 2:30 p.m. PT in a match televised live on ESPN2 and ESPNU. UCLA advanced by beating visiting Portland 2-1 on Saturday.

The winner will play North Carolina (21-3-1) or Notre Dame (21-3-1) in the final on Sunday at 10 a.m. PT, to be shown on ESPN2. North Carolina and Notre Dame meet Friday at 5 p.m. PT.

The same four semifinals from the 2008 College Cup have advanced once again. The difference is the matchups. Stanford played Notre Dame in the 2008 semifinals.

Stanford and UCLA played on Oct. 8 at Stanford, with the Cardinal earning a 2-0 victory on goals within two minutes of each other in the second half. The first was an own goal and the second was headed in by reserve Camille Levin.

This will be the first postseason meeting between the two teams.
