Cougars Continue Homestand Against Wyoming

The Washington State women's basketball team (2-4) plays host to undefeated Wyoming (7-0), Saturday. Tip-off against the Cowgirls is scheduled for 2 p.m.

Fans can listen to the game against the Cowgirls live on Hit Radio 104-3 FM in Pullman/Moscow, or at Mike Tatko has the call live from Pullman. The game can also be followed live on GameTracker.

WSU will be looking for its second-straight victory over a team from the Mountain West Conference. The Cougars haven't faced a team from the MWC in nearly five years, with the last meeting taking place in 2004 when WSU knocked off San Diego State 55-50 (Dec. 11) in San Diego.

The Cougars are 13-20 all-time against teams currently in the MWC, including a 6-8 record when playing in Pullman. WSU's last victory over a MWC opponent came Nov. 24, 1998, a 94-49 win over Wyoming.

The Cougars have won five of the six games played against the Cowgirls, a series that dates back to a 62-51 victory in 1981 The only blemish on record is an 82-51 loss at Friel Court in 2002 (Nov. 22). The Cougars are 2-1 when playing at home. Though it has been more than six years since the teams have played, WSU won the last meeting 59-50 in Laramie, Wyo. (Nov. 24, 2003).

With only 10 years of returning NCAA basketball experience, the Cougar women's basketball team is the sixth-youngest in the country according to a poll of the nation's Sports Information Directors.

Freshman guard KiKi Moore recorded eight steals against Saint Mary's (Dec. 3), setting WSU's NCAA freshman record. Moore also tied the previous record of seven in just her second game as a Cougar. Moore leads the Pac-10 in steals, averaging 4.8 per game, and entered this week ranked seventh nationally.
