Washington's Pondexter Named Pac-10 Men's Basketball Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Commissioner Larry Scott announced today that WASHINGTON senior forward Quincy Pondexter has been named the Pac-10 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for Nov. 30-Dec. 6.
Pondexter, who hails from Fresno, Calif., averaged 25.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.5 blocks and 3.0 steals for the 10th-ranked Huskies who split their games against Texas Tech and Cal State Northridge last week.
In Washington’s 99-92 overtime loss to the Red Raiders, Pondexter scored a career-high 31 points, shooting 10-of-17 from the field and 11-of-13 from the free throw line. He also contributed five rebounds and three steals. In Sunday’s 88-76 victory over the Matadors, he scored 20 points and added seven rebounds, four assists, two blocks and three steals. For the week, he shot a combined 16-of-31 (51.6%) from the field and 18-of-21 (85.7%) from the free throw line.
For the season, Pondexter ranks third in the Conference in scoring (22.0 per game), second in rebounding (9.6), sixth in steals (1.9) and third in free throw percentage (.879).
This is the second weekly honor for Pondexter and Washington’s 35th all-time Player of the Week.
