Charles Brown Named All-American, Wins Morris Trophy

Dec. 15, 2009

USC senior offensive tackle Charles Brown was named to the 2009 Sporting News All-American first team and also won the Pac-10's Morris Trophy.

Brown, a 2-year starter at left tackle who last week was named to the All-Pac-10 first team, joins senior safety Taylor Mays as All-American first team selections this season. Trojans have now been named All-American first teamers 156 times.

The Morris Trophy is awarded annually to the Pac-10's top offensive lineman as selected by the league's starting defensive linemen.

Brown becomes the 14th Trojan offensive or defensive lineman to win the Morris Trophy. Most recently, defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis won it in 2006 (along with center Ryan Kalil) and 2007.

Oregon State defensive tackle Stephen Paea won the defensive version of the 2009 Morris Trophy.
