Stepheson Named Pac-10 Player Of The Week

HONOLULU, Hi. -- USC junior forward Alex Stepheson was named the Pac-10 Player of the Week for Dec. 14-20 it was announced today (Dec. 20) by Pac-10 Commissioner Larry Scott.

Stepheson helped lead USC to a 77-55 victory over No. 9 Tennessee on Dec. 19 by scoring 19 points and grabbing a career-high 15 rebounds. He posted his third consecutive double-double and fourth in seven games played this season. He set the tone early, scoring 10 points and pulling down nine rebounds by halftime, more rebounds than the entire Volunteer team had at the break. Stepheson played the entire 40 minutes for the first time in his career and posted his second-straight 8-for-11 effort from the field (72.7 percent).

Through seven games this season, Stepheson ranks second in the Pac-10 in rebounds per game (10.6), first in blocked shots 17 (2.57 per outing) and offensive rebounds per game (4.29). He also is averaging 13.4 points per game.

This is the first weekly honor for Stepheson and USC's 30th all-time Player of the Week.
