USC Finishes 2009 Season With No. 16 National Ranking

LOS ANGELES -- The USC women's volleyball team was ranked No. 16 in the nation in the AVCA Division I Coaches final poll for the 2009 season. USC finished the season with a 22-10 record and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. It was the 19th consecutive year that USC qualified for the tournament, as well as the 19th straight season that the Women of Troy finished in the Top 25 nationally.

Among this season's highlights were sophomore outside hitter Alex Jupiter becoming USC's 31st All-American, earning AVCA All-America third team honors. Jupiter and senior outside hitter Jessica Gysin earned All-Pac-10 Conference honors while sophomore setter Kendall Bateman received honorable mention. Gysin also earned AVCA All-America honorable mention.

Bateman finished the season as the nation's top setter with a 12.44 assists per set average.

Geena Urango earned Pac-10 Conference All-Academic second team honors while Bateman, Alli Hillgren and Zoe Garrett earned All-Academic honorable mention.
