UW Hoopsters Share Their Christmas Memories and Wishes

Dec. 24, 2009

Several members of the Husky men's basketball team and coaching staff shared with GoHuskies.com what they are hoping to get for Christmas and their favorite Christmas presents of all time. Here is a sampling of some of their responses.

Most of the Husky players were unanimous in what they were hoping to receive for Christmas: Jordan 11 Space Jams. The list of players who were hoping for the recently released Nike shoes included Matthew Bryan-Amaning, Abdul Gaddy, Quincy Pondexter, Scott Suggs and Clarence Trent.

Several players - Tyreese Breshers, Abdul Gaddy and Elston Turner - wanted new Mac Books. Turner's reasoning for wanting a Mac Book was the most interesting as he needed a replacement for his previous computer. He ruined it when he fell asleep next to his laptop and spilled water on it.

Isaiah Thomas was more practical in what he requested for X-mas...he only wanted a new Bentley!

Darnell Gant and Justin Holiday had simple wishes of wanting to be with their families. Pondexter wanted his family to be safe and happy over the holidays, but also wanted a lot of wins in the upcoming season.

Assistant coaches Raphael Chillious and Jim Shaw each received their gifts on Tuesday as all they wanted was a victory over Texas A&M.

What is the best Christmas present you ever received?
Breshers: It matters what age group it was. When I was younger it was Power Rangers and as I got older it was the XBox 360 .

Bryan-Amaning: When I get to go back home and spend Christmas with my family since I rarely get to do that now.

Gant: I don't have a best Christmas present ever. I just enjoy every year being with my family and friends.

Thomas: One year I got a Detroit Pistons Grant Hill jersey and his FILA shoes.

Suggs: ITouch

Trent: The PlayStation2

Holiday: Gameboy

Coach Chillious: Clyde's car crusher

Coach Shaw: I was pretty excited when I got an electronic football game, one of those old school ones when the players were on the field and they would vibrate and move around.

Coach Romar: Without question, it was my first real bicycle. I went from a tricycle to a bicycle and it was bittersweet because it was the first time I learned there was no Santa Claus. My dad told me `No, really, there really is no Santa,' `you're kidding me,' I said. Dad says, `You wanted a bike, right? I am putting the bike together upstairs. Come here, I will show you.'

Gaddy: When I was little, I got my first Fisher Price hoop. Me and my brother used to play on it all the time and we found it before Christmas too because we knew where all of the hiding spots were.

Pondexter: My big Huffy basketball hoop. When I was 10, 11 or 12 years old and my dad and I took all day to put it together in the house and then we took it outside and I played forever on it. I tried to dunk on it all the time, it was one of those adjustable ones. Within the year, I wore it out and had to get a new one. It is kind of a Christmas tradition to get a hoop around that time of year.

Turner: I got a full court hoop one year.

Happy Holidays to all Husky fans!!
