Oregon's Lilley Named Pac-10 Women's Basketball Player of the Week

Jan. 4, 2010

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.-- OREGON senior guard Taylor Lilley was named the Pac-10 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 28-Jan. 3, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today.

Taylor Lilley (Newhall, Calif.) was a big reason the Ducks went 2-0 in the opening weekend of Pac-10 competition, the first time Oregon has started Conference play with two wins since 2004-05. Lilley averaged 24.0 points per game and shot 56.7 percent from the field in games against Washington and Washington State, and was lethal from three-point range, making over 52 percent of her attempts (17-for-30) from behind the line.

Lilley had a career outing in the 82-71 win over the Huskies in the Pac-10 opener. She scored 33 points and knocked down  eight threes, marking career highs in both categories, also going 11-for-17 (.647) on the evening. En route to setting personal highs, she also reached the 1,000-point threshold and broke Oregon’s all-time three-point record which had stood for 16 years. Lilley has made 192 threes since arriving on campus four years ago.

Lilley’s hot streak continued in the 98-92 win over WSU, reaching double-digit scoring for the 11th time this season. She had 15 points, going 6-for-13 from the floor with a pair of threes. She also grabbed five rebounds, handed out four assists and had three steals.

It is the first-career Player of the Week honor for Lilley and Oregon’s 35th all-time selection. Two other Ducks have received the weekly nod this season, with JR F/C Nicole Canepa winning the award on Nov. 23 and SO F Amanda Johnson garnering the honor on Dec. 7. It is the most player of the week selections in a season for the Ducks since 2004-05.

Oregon’s next game is an in-state battle vs. Oregon State on Saturday, Jan. 9 in Corvallis, Ore. The Ducks look to snap a two-game losing streak to the Beavers on Fox Sports Net.
