Husky Men Start Season In Top-30

Jan. 5, 2010

SKILLMAN, N.J. - The first team rankings for the 2010 season were released this afternoon by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, and the Husky men's team checked in at No. 26 with the beginning of dual play just over a week away.

Washington will be aiming for its 16th-consecutive NCAA tournament appearance this year, and returns many key players from last year's squad that made the NCAA Second Round.

In the Northwest Regional rankings, junior Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan is ranked sixth in singles, freshman Kyle McMorrow is ranked 14th, and senior Derek Drabble is ranked 19th.

In doubles, Nedunchezhiyan and McMorrow are ranked sixth in the region, and juniors Tobi Obenaus and Alex Rosinski are ranked seventh. Drabble and junior Martin Kildahl were ranked 11th nationally in doubles in the fall preseason but Kildahl missed the fall season due to a foot injury. His return should give UW a very strong doubles lineup.

The Huskies begin the dual season on January 14 with a home match against Gonzaga at 4 p.m. at the Nordstrom Tennis Center.
