The Washington State women's basketball team kicks off its first Pacific-10 Conference homestand of the 2009-10 season, squaring off against Arizona Thursday (Jan. 7) at Friel Court. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.

The Cougars (5-8, 0-2 Pac-10) and Wildcats (6-6, 0-2 Pac-10) were each swept in the opening weekend of conference play.

WSU will close out the weekend with Arizona State Saturday (Jan. 9) at 2 p.m. at Friel Court.

Fans can listen to the game live on KQQQ 1150 AM and on translator 105.3 FM in Pullman/Moscow, or at Steve Grubbs has the call live from Pullman.

WSU's meeting against Oregon (Jan. 3) was the 600th game of June Daugherty's head coaching career. Daugherty, in her third year at WSU, also spent 11 years at Washington (1996-2007) and seven years at Boise State (1989-96). Her record through 600 career games is 335-265 (.558).

Freshman guard KiKi Moore leads the Cougars in scoring (14.1), steals (3.8) and assists (3.7). Moore is one of just three players in the Pacific-10 Conference to rank in the top 10 in each of the statistical categories: scoring (ninth), steals (first) and assists (fifth). Her steal average also ranks sixth-nationally.

Freshman center Carly Noyes already has seven multiple-block games - including each of the last four - in her debut season. She recorded four blocks against Oregon, tying WSU's freshman NCAA single-game record. Her block average (1.6) ranks third in the Pac-10, and her season total (21) is already the third-most by a Cougar freshman in NCAA history.

The Cougars swept last year's regular-season meetings with the Wildcats before falling to Arizona (79-72) in the first round of the Pacific-10 Conference Tournament. WSU was victorious 68-58 in Pullman (Jan. 31) and 63-56 in Tucson (Feb. 26), sweeping a series against a conference opponent for the first time since the 1995-96 season. Though WSU trails 21-26 in the all-time series, the Cougars have won three of the last four meetings with Arizona.
