BOULDER - The University of Colorado women's tennis team will begin the 2010 spring season as the No. 60 nationally ranked squad in the first installment of the Campbell/ITA College Tennis Rankings released this week. The women also placed a pair of student-athletes among the top-125 singles rankings and one tandem among the doubles rankings.

In the team rankings, CU is one of 75 schools ranked.

The Buffaloes finished the 2009 spring season with a 12-11 record and No. 57 national ranking. Eleven-year head coach Nicole Kenneally, who has guided the Buffs to a trio of top four Big 12 placings, returns a coaching-first, three senior scholarship student-athletes to the roster (Camila Belassi, Melisa Esposito, Monica Milewski).

In the singles rankings, Esposito and Milewski are the No. 64 and No. 90 ranked singles players, respectively. In doubles, Milewski and sophomore Michala Hedelund Jensen are No. 44 out of 60 teams.

"The opportunity to begin the season in the rankings is a good start as we look to build on our success as a team," Kenneally said. "I congratulate Melisa (#64) and Monica (#90) being in the singles national rankings, and this is due to their individual success in the fall.

"Monica and Michala had the opportunity to play in one tournament together in the fall and had much success."

Milewski enters her final season as one the winningest tennis players in school history. She enters the spring tied for third in doubles victories (66) and 10th all-time in singles triumphs with 75. Esposito is not far behind in doubles tallies with 64 wins; Belassi has 54 victories.
