TUCSON, Ariz. – Getting back into dual meet season, the Arizona women’s swimming team defeated Oregon State, Northern Arizona and New Mexico State today at the Hillenbrand Aquatic Center.  Scores were: Arizona over OSU, 205-53, UA over NAU, 206-55 and UA over NMSU, 204-57.


Arizona opened the meet by winning the 200 medley relay behind the foursome of Ana Agy, Annie Chandler, Whitney Lopus and Andrea Boritzke’s time of 1:42.48.


Alyssa Anderson took the women’s 200 free event with a B cut time of 1:48.77.  Anderson then followed that up with a victory in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:02.41. 


The transfer duo of Hannah Ross and Erin Campbell finished 1-2 in the 100 backstroke turning in times of 56.91 and 58.36, respectively.  Agy, who exhibitioned the race, had a time of 1:22.78.


Chandler claimed both the 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke competitions, turning in times of 1:03.61 and 2:18.91 to catapult herself to the wins.


Freshman Monica Drake notched her first event win as a Wildcat, taking the 500 free title with a time of 5:06.94.


Following Drake’s win, Lopus took home the 100 fly event, winning the race in 55.68.


Rounding out Friday’s afternoon’s meet, the UA 400 free relay team of Emma Darlington, Boritzke, Agy, and Justine Schluntz took the event with a time of 3:29.25.


Arizona on the day took all 14 events against its competitors.


The UA men will be action tomorrow morning against SMU beginning at 10 a.m. at the Hillenbrand Aquatic Center.
