Charters Offered Spot On U.S. National Team

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - The Amateur Softball Association (ASA) of America announced today the 17 athletes that were offered a USA Softball Athlete Agreement for the 2010 season and former Washington All-American Ashley Charters was one of those players.

The final roster for the 2010 USA Softball Women's National Team will be announced in March with the team competing in the ISF Women's World Championships, June 23-July 2, 2010 in Caracas, Venezuela as well as other events to be scheduled at a later date.

This marks the second-straight season Charters has been offered a spot on the U.S. National Team. Just after her senior season in which she led the Huskies to the National Championship and was named a First Team All-American, Charters earned her first ever spot with the Red, White and Blue, competing for the USA in the Canada Cup, World Cup of Softball and the Japan Cup.

The Beaverton, Ore., native left Washington a three-time All-American, a four-time All-Pac-10 selection and a two-time Women's College World Series All-Tournament team selection, playing shortstop and second base during her career. She is Washington's all-time leader in stolen bases and triples and set a single-season record for hits her senior year.
