THE MEET ... The 5th-ranked Oregon State gymnastics team (4-0) returns to Corvallis to host No. 20 Washington (0-2) at Gill Coliseum Friday, Jan. 22 at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. The team will sign autographs in the Gill Coliseum lobby following the meet.

As part of the 60th Anniversary of Gill Coliseum celebrations, former Oregon State gymnasts have been invited to participate in Alumni Night. During these festivities, OSU Athletics will honor the five former Oregon State gymnastics national champions with the unveiling of a national champions banner in the Gill rafters.

Friday’s meet will be stream live via the Internet on Beaver Nation Online ( for a fee. The meet is produced by OSU’s Media Services in collaboration with OSU Athletics’ video department. Former OSU gymnasts Jami Lanz and Adonica Glatt provide analysis.

THE SERIES ... This meet will be the only regular season meeting between the Beavers and their Pacific Northwest rivals in 2010 in a rivalry that often includes a home-and-home. The Beavers beat the Huskies two out of three times in 2009 and hold the series lead 89-24 overall and 45-2 at Gill Coliseum.

LAST TIME ON THE FLOOR ... Oregon State great early season start continued last Saturday when the Beavers won at Ohio State, 196.125-193.050 ... The Beavers reached the 196-point mark despite counting a miss in the first rotation (bars) and the loss of Leslie Mak (bars, beam, floor) to an elbow injury and Olivia Vivian (bars) to a finger injury during timed warm-ups ... senior Mandi Rodriguez won the all-around with a score of 39.350 and freshman Makayla Stambaugh was second (39.025). Both gymnasts tallied scores of 9.95 on the floor ... Laura-Ann Chong is performing the best gymnastics of her career at OSU, winning the individual title on bars equaling the career-high she set the previous week with a 9.925. Chong also tied Stambaugh for first on the beam with a score of 9.90 and for the second week in a row she set a career-best on the floor with a 9.825 ... Becky Colvin tied for top honors on the vault with a season-best 9.875.

WHAT’S COMING UP ... OSU continues its homestand next Friday, Jan. 29, with the fifth annual Pink Out against Stanford and Seattle Pacific. Fans are encouraged to support the cause by purchasing an official Pink Out t-shirt from Beaver Authentics at its location in Gill Coliseum. All fans that purchase the official t-shirt and wear it to the meet will receive one free general admission ticket to the event. The Pink Out has annually brought some of the largest crowds in recent seasons as the Beavers, along with The Corvallis Clinic, help to raise money and awareness for breast and cervical cancer.

TICKETS ... Tickets for the 2010 season are on sale for for Oregon State’s four remaining home meets.

The Beavers are scheduled to face Washington (Jan. 22), Stanford and Seattle Pacific (Jan. 29), Arizona (Feb. 12) and Kentucky (Mar. 19).

IN THE RANKINGS ... All four of Oregon State’s lineups are ranked in this week’s Top 11. The Beavers are ranked 9th on vault, 5th on the uneven bars, 11th on the balance beam and 3rd on the floor exercise ... in addition, several OSU gymnasts are ranked among the top 25 in the nation: Laura-Ann Chong and Leslie Mak are tied for second on the bars (9.925 average), and Jen Kesler, Mandi Rodriguez and Olivia Vivian are tied for 25th (9.825); Chong is tied for sixth on the beam (9.875) and Makayla Stambaugh is tied for eighth (9.85); Stambaugh is tied for fourth on the floor (9.90) and Rodriguez is tied for 14th (9.862); Stambaugh is tied for 10th in the all-around (39.150) and Rodriguez is tied for 17th (39.062).

PINK OUT BREAKFAST AND SILENT AUCTION ... The Beavers are set to host the fifth annual Pink Out, Jan. 29 when they host Stanford and Seattle Pacific. And with the Pink Out gymnastics meet comes the third annual Pink Out Breakfast and Silent Auction which will be held Jan. 30 in the Club Level of Reser Stadium. Sign in begins at 9:30 a.m. with breakfast starting at 10. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the breakfast and silent auction go to The Corvallic Clinic’s Project H.E.R. (Help. Enlightenment. Resources.).

MORE MEDIA FOR THE BEAVS ... FSN’s “Runnin’ with the Pac” was on campus this week gathering interviews and footage for a future episode that will feature the Oregon State men’s basketball and women’s gymnastics teams. The show is expected to air Jan. 28.
