PALO ALTO, Calif. - The No. 2 Arizona women's swimming and diving team fell today to host No. 4 Stanford, 173-125, for their first loss of the dual meet season.  The UA women are now 7-1 on the year.

The Cats started the day by taking the 200 medley relay event with the team of Justine Schluntz, Annie Chandler, Ana Agy and Leo Vorster winning the event with a time of 1:40.89--a hundredth of a second faster than the Stanford relay team.

Super sophomore Alyssa Anderson then won the 1000 freestyle event with a time of 9:43.90 to give Arizona an early advantage.  Anderson was followed by Joni Keith and Susana Helms who finished third and fourth, respectively.

Arizona's Agy took the 100 backstroke event, beating out Stanford's Julia Smit with a time of 53.79.  Jenny Forster and Andrea Boritzke both scored points in the event for the Cats.

Agy's win was then followed by Chandler's 100 breaststroke win.  The San Antonio native won the race with a time of 1:01.56.  Ellyn Baumgardner also scored with a 1:03.43 showing.

But after grabbing three early individual wins, the Arizona women could not muster another as the Cardinal went onto take the dual meet, showcasing its depth across the board.

Ainsley Oliver finished third in both the one-meter and three-meter diving events to score six points.

In the 400 free relay, the team of Schluntz, Vorster, Boritzke and Whitney Lopus swam a time of 3:21.06 to finish behind SU's winning relay team.

Tomorrow the Arizona women will head across the Bay to take on No. 5 California.
