Felix Named 2009 Sportswoman of the Year By L.A. Sports Council

World champion sprinter and former USC student Allyson Felix has been named the 2009 Sports woman of the Year by the Los Angeles Sports Council and will receive the award at the fifth annunal LA Sports Awards on Friday, Feb. 19 at the new JW Marriott at L.A. Live.
The Sports woman award is given to the local female athlete whose performance and character best exemplified the ideas of sportsmanship during the calendar year.
Felix starred at the 2009 IAAF World Track and Field Championships in Berlin, Germany, winning two gold medals. She made history by becoming the first woman ever to win three consecutive world 200m titles. She also ran a powerful relay leg to help the U.S. to vicotry in the 4x400m relay.
Felix was also the Sportswoman of the Year recipient in 2007.
