Inside Stanford Sports Continues Tonight

STANFORD, Calif.- Senior guard/forward Landry Fields has been named Pac-10 Player of the Week for Jan. 18-24, as announced today by Commissioner Larry Scott.

The honor is the first of Fields' career and first for a Stanford player this season. Fields becomes the first Cardinal player to earn a Pac-10 Player of the Week award since Lawrence Hill (Jan. 12-18, 2009).

Fields led Stanford to its second consecutive homestand sweep, as the Cardinal improved to 9-2 at Maples Pavilion with its fifth straight home win. This time around, Stanford routed Oregon State 59-35 before defeating Oregon 84-69 two days later.

For the week, Fields averaged 24.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game while also coming up with six assists, four blocks and three steals.

In the 59-35 triumph over Oregon State, Fields helped key Stanford's best defensive performance in four years. The Cardinal limited the Beavers to just 35 points on 36.6 percent shooting, while forcing 19 turnovers and holding a +16 rebounding advantage. Fields led all scorers with 17 points, falling just one rebound shy of his eighth double-double of the season.

Two days later in the 84-69 victory over Oregon, Fields led all scorers once again with a career-high 32 points on 9-15 shooting in 34 minutes. Becoming the first Stanford player to finish with 32 points in a game since Casey Jacobsen in 2002, Fields also grabbed eight boards, dished out five assists and blocked three shots. He finished 14-19 from the foul line (both career-highs), knocking down the most free throws in a game for a Stanford player since Chris Hernandez went 17-18 from the charity stripe on Nov. 19, 2004.

Fields leads Stanford in scoring (21.8 ppg), rebounding (8.7 rpg), free throws (114-159), steals (39) and blocks (13). He ranks second in the Pac-10 in scoring, rebounding, steals and minutes per game (35.1). Fields has also registered seven double-doubles while scoring at least 20 points in all but six games this year.
