Stanford's Fields Named Pac-10 Men's Basketball Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Commissioner Larry Scott announced today that STANFORD senior guard/forward Landry Fields has been named the Pac-10 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 18-24.
A native of Long Beach, Calif., Fields averaged 24.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.0 blocks and 1.5 steals in a weekend sweep over OREGON STATE and OREGON.
In Thursday’s 59-35 win over the Beavers, Fields led all scorers with 17 points. He pulled down nine boards in 29 minutes of action. The Cardinal had its best defensive performance in four years, limiting Oregon State to 35 points on 36.6 percent (15-for-41) shooting and forcing 19 turnovers. In Saturday’s victory over the Ducks, Fields finished with a career-high 32 points on 9-for-15 (60 percent) shooting from the floor, including 14-for-19 (74 percent) from the free throw line. The made free throws and free throw attempts were also career-highs. He also added eight rebounds, dished out five assists and blocked three shots.
For the season, Fields ranks second in the Pac-10 in scoring (21.8 ppg), rebounds (8.7 rpg) and steals (2.05 spg). Heading into play last weekend, Fields ranked 12th in the NCAA in scoring.
This is the first weekly honor for Fields and Stanford’s 43rd all-time Player of the Week.
