Men's Tennis To Serve As Host For ITA Kick-Off Weekend

ITA Kick-Off Weekend Tournament Central

STANFORD, Calif.- No. 9 Stanford (1-0, 0-0 Pac-10) returns to action this weekend, serving as one of 15 host sites around the country participating in the second annual ITA Kick-Off Weekend.

The ITA Kick-Off Weekend features 15 men's host sites with four teams at each site vying to advance to the Team Indoor Championships. The 15 men's teams to win both of their matches at these events will be invited to play in the National Team Indoor Championships on Feb. 12-15 in Charlottesville, Va.

Stanford has been seeded the No. 1 team at its site, and will be matched up with No. 57 UNC Wilmington on the first day of action on Friday. The other match pits No. 44 San Diego State against No. 45 Oklahoma. This weekend's complete schedule is as follows:

Friday, Jan. 29
11 a.m.: San Diego State vs. Oklahoma
2 p.m.: Stanford vs. UNC Wilmington

Saturday, Jan. 30
11 a.m.: Loser of Match 1 vs. Loser of Match 2
2 p.m.: Winner of Match 1 vs. Winner of Match 2

Stanford is coming off a 7-0 shutout of Sacramento State in its season opener on Jan. 23. The Cardinal easily captured the doubles point, including an 8-4 win at the No. 1 spot from the nation's No. 1 duo of Bradley Klahn and Ryan Thacher. Greg Hirshman clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at the No. 6 spot.
