CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State football head coach Mike Riley, men's basketball coach Craig Robinson, football's Jacquizz Rodgers and Jordan Poyer and women's basketball's Kate Lanz are finalists for the 2009 Oregon Sports Awards, which will be announced Sunday.

Riley and Robinson are both finalists for the 2009 Slats Gill Sportsperson of the Year Award. Rodgers is up for the 2009 Bill Hayward Amateur Athletes of the Year Award, while Poyer and Lanz are finalists for the 2009 Johnny Carpenter Prep Athletes of the Year Award.

The award ceremony will take place Sunday at the Tiger Woods Center on the Nike World Campus in Beaverton. It will air on Comcast SportsNet at various times throughout the state of Oregon.

Riley guided the Beavers to their fourth consecutive bowl game and finished the 2009 campaign with an 8-5 record after tying for second in the Pacific-10 Conference. Riley became the school's second-winningest coach during the season, and now has 64 career victories.

Robinson, meanwhile, is up for the award after taking the men's basketball team to the CBI title in just his first season in Corvallis. The Beavers went 18-18 overall and 7-11 in Pac-10 play.

Rodgers finished the 2009 football season as one of the most dynamic players in the league. He rushed for a team-leading 1,440 rushing yards and was second on the Beavers with 78 receptions. His 21 rushing touchdowns placed him among the nation's leaders.

Poyer was a standout quarterback and safety at Astoria High School prior to coming to Corvallis. He was Oregon's offensive and defensive player of the year. In three years at Astoria, he finished with 123 touchdowns, and he also lettered in baseball and football. He hit 12 home runs as a freshman.

Lanz rounds out the five that will attend the ceremony in Beaverton. She was named the 2008-09 Oregonian 6A Player of the Year after finishing her senior campaign with 15.4 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 4.1 steals per game, guiding Central Catholic High School to a third-place finish at the state tournament.
