IRVINE, Calif. - Oregon State junior Kevin Rhoderick has been named to the preseason Watch List for the sixth annual National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Stopper of the Year Award, it was announced Thursday.

The Stopper of the Year Award is given annually to the nation's top collegiate closer. Players were nominated by sports information directors, and the list will be pared down in April. The winner of the 2010 award will be named on June 19, the opening day of the College World Series, after finalists are announced on June 2.

Through two seasons at Oregon State, Rhoderick has 21 saves, which is second-most in school history, trailing only Kevin Gunderson's (2004-06) 37.

Last season, Rhoderick finished with a 3-3 record and nine saves. That followed his freshman campaign, in which he was named a Freshman All-American after going 0-1 with a 2.39 earned run average and 12 saves.

In two seasons, and 43 appearances, he has allowed just two extra base hits - a double and a home run - while opponents have batted just .187 against him. He has 65 strikeouts in 50 innings
