No. 5 Cal Edged by No. 9 USC, 153-147

LOS ANGELES - Despite strong performances by its relays and freshman Caitlin Leverenz, No. 5 California lost its first dual meet of the season, 153-147, to No. 9 USC on Friday at USC McDonald's Swim Stadium. The Golden Bears' record fell to 4-1 (2-1 Pac-10), while the Trojans improved to 10-1 (3-1 Pac-10). Cal claimed seven events, including three wins by Leverenz, the opening 200-yard medley relay and the closing 200-yard freestyle relay. USC won nine events.

The Trojans have now beaten Cal in two straight dual-meet seasons.
