Murakami Runs NCAA Qualifier In 3000m In Seattle

Shannon Murakami opened up the 2010 indoor season on a high note as the junior ran an NCAA provisional qualifier in the 3000m at the UW Invitational in Seattle. Murakami finished ninth overall in the race.

Also in Seattle, junior Joy Eaton had a solid day, running a lifetime-best of 54.72 in the 400m to finish third overall. Eaton also competed in the 200m, finishing fourth overall with a time of 25.38.

Freshman Briana Barlow finished 20th in the 400m, running 58.81. She also competed in the 200m, placing 26th overall (26.30).

In the 800m, junior Ashlea McLaughlin, competing in her first 800m race as a Bruin, ran 2:11.11 to finish third overall. Freshman Tina Theriot was 24th overall with a time of 2:20.21.

Freshman Allie Lopez was the sole competitor for UCLA in the mile as she finished 19th in a time of 5:01.68.

The Bruins will continue the indoor season next weekend when they head to New York for the New Balance Collegiate Invitational.
