Cougars Receive Votes in NCBWA Preseason Poll

DALLAS - The Washington State University baseball team received votes in the 2010 National College Baseball Writers Assocation preseason poll released, Monday.

It is the second preseason poll to recognize the Cougars. WSU received votes from Collegiate Baseball in December.

The Cougars, who open their season, Feb. 20 at home against Seattle (first pitch noon), are scheduled to play 18 games against teams in the NCBWA preseason top 35 and four more against schools that received votes (Bethune-Cookman and Dallas Baptist).

In conference, WSU will host No. 8 Arizona State (April 9-11) and No. 18 Oregon State (April 23-25) and will travel to No. 30 Stanford (May 14-16) and No. 27 UCLA (May 28-30). All series are three games.

The Cougars also play three-game road series against No. 28 Texas A&M (March 12-14) and No. 31 Wichita State (March 19-21).

WSU squares off against Bethune-Cookman for two games (Feb. 26-27) in Lubbock, Texas and plays a two-game road series (March 14-15) at Dallas Baptist.

The Cougars were 32-25 last year and participated in the NCAA Baseball Championship at the Norman (Okla.) Regional.
