Were You There? 2010 Recruiting Dinner Tops All Others
Feb. 4, 2010
Corvallis, Ore. -
If you were one of the approximate 850 people who attended Wednesday’s 2010 Football Recruiting Dinner (view photo gallery) at the Oregon Convention Center, you know how it has grown into one of the most anticipated events of the season.
The evening started out with a silent auction that netted over $50,000 for the Beaver Athletic Student Fund (BASF) scholarship account. Auction items included trips with the football team, autographed memorabilia, tickets to games, sideline passes and much more. Following the auction an outstanding steak or salmon dinner was served, followed by master of ceremonies Mike Parker beginning the formal program.
Beaver head coach Mike Riley discussed the 2010 recruiting class, as did offensive coordinator Danny Langsdorf and defensive coordinator Mark Banker. Former Beavers and current NFL stars Matt Moore, Derek Anderson and Keith Ellison addressed the sold out crowd on their overwhelmingly positive experience they had at OSU.
OSU President Ed Ray and his wife Beth attended, as did many former student-athletes including Alexis Serna, Trent Bray, Dave Montagne, Steve Preece, Jim Wilson, Joe Newton and Charlie Sitton among others.
“It’s amazing how this event has taken off over the last couple of years,” Director of Athletics Bob De Carolis said. “If you haven’t been before, I encourage you to do so. The proceeds are for a great cause, and it’s a terrific opportunity to meet new people, our coaching staff and former student-athletes.”
The OSU Athletic Department and the BASF would like to give special thanks to West Coast Bank, the title sponsor, and presenting partners Aramark, Miller/Coors, Chateau Ste Michelle, Integra Telecom, Key Manufacturing and Royce’s Prop Shop.
Make plans to join many of your “Beaver Nation” friends at the 2011 event, scheduled for Wed., Feb. 2. To learn more on how you can get involved please contact the BASF at 1-800-GO-BEAVS.
