Jeff Tedford to Appear on CSN Bay Area's Chronicle Live Friday

Feb. 5, 2010

BERKELEY - Cal football head coach Jeff Tedford will be a guest on Comcast SportsNet Bay Area's Chronicle Live television show this Friday, Feb. 5. The show airs from 5-6 p.m. and will be rebroadcast from 11 p.m. - Midnight.

Others scheduled to appear include Larry Baer (President, San Francisco Giants), Mark DeRosa (Outfielder, San Francisco Giants), Chuck Esposito (Casino Operations Manager, Tropicana), Paul Gutierrez (Sportswriter, Sacramento Bee), Henry Schulman (San Francisco Giants Beat Writer, San Francisco Chronicle) and David White (Oakland Raiders Beat Writer, San Francisco Chronicle).

Cal signed 10 high school All-Americans to National Letters of Intent last Wednesday to highlight the addition of 20 student-athletes to the Cal football program for the 2010 season. Cal's 2010 signing class ranks as high as No. 11 nationally by Rivals, with the Golden Bears posting the seventh-highest Rivals ranking according to the number of average stars per signee (3.58). ESPN lists Cal's 2010 signing class at No. 15, while Scout has the Bears at No. 29.

The newcomers will join a Cal football program that ranks second among Pac-10 teams in victories with a 67-35 record since Tedford took over the Bears' head coaching job in 2002. Cal has posted winning seasons in each of Tedford's first eight campaigns at Cal, making him one of only eight current Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) head coaches to have a current run of eight consecutive winning seasons, with only six of the coaches having accomplished the feat at the same school. Cal extended its school-record run of bowl appearances to seven in 2009 with an 8-5 overall record.

Cal will open its 2010 season with the first of seven home games on the schedule against UC Davis on Saturday, Sept. 4. Other teams visiting Memorial Stadium include Stanford, Oregon, UCLA, Washington, Arizona State and Colorado. Season tickets go on sale Monday, Feb. 22.
