Krug Twice Finishes in the Top of the Pack

COLUMBUS, Ohio-- Stanford alumnae Cassidy Krug finished second with partner Kassidy Cook in the three-meter syncho and fourth in the three-meter final of the U.S. Winter Diving National Championships on Sunday.

The former NCAA diver of the Year, combined with Cook to score over 69 points on each of their final three dives. They twice tallied 73.80 points on the third and fourth dives of the afternoon, the first a forward 2 ½ somersault, one twist pike and the second a back 2 ½ somersault pike. The duo finished with 318.90 points, 5.70 points behind winner and Olympians Kelci Bryant and Christina Loukas.

In the three-meter finals, Krug tallied 702.45 points, carrying over 337.15 points from Friday when she finished fourth. Krug had dives of 69 or better on four of five dives on Sunday, including a best of 81.00 on a back 2 ½ somersault pike, which resulted in three 9.5's and a 9.0. Loukas won the overall event with 721.90 points, gaining a spot on the World Cup team along with Abby Johnston, who was second.

The U.S. Winter Nationals conclude on Monday with the one-meter events featuring Stanford divers Brent Eichenseer, Meg Hostage and incoming recruit Stephanie Phipps.
