Bruins Tied for Third Place after Day One at Regional Challenge

The top-ranked UCLA women's golf team was tied for third place following Monday's opening round of the Regional Challenge at the Palos Verdes Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes.

The Bruins posted a team score of 295 (+11) and trailed first-round leader USC (284, E) by 11 shots. Sixth-ranked Duke was in second place at 292 (+8). Pepperdine was tied with UCLA, followed by fifth place Denver at 296 (+12).

Junior Glory Yang and sophomore Brianna Do were tied for 12th place after posting opening round scores of 73 (+2). Freshman Tiffany Lua was tied for 21st after signing for a 74 (+3). Senior Sydnee Michaels and junior Lalita Boonnoppornkul were tied for 28th after posting scores of 75 (+4). Freshman Stacy Kim, playing as an individual, was in 76th place after carding a score of 83 (+12).

The tournament leaders were Lindy Duncan of Duke and Jennifer Song of USC, who each fired first round scores of 67 (-4).

Second round action continues Tuesday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun.
