Anthony Robles Named ASU Male Athlete of the Week

Feb. 10, 2010

Wrestler Anthony Robles has been named ASU's Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending February 13th. He continued to dominate by erasing a seven-point deficit against 5th ranked Andrew Long of Iowa State, to improve his record to 24-2 overall. Robles has continued his excellent campaign thus far, receiving his third Athlete of the Week award this season. The Sun Devils wrap both the regular season and their home dual schedule next Sunday as they play host to the Cardinal of Stanford at 2 p.m. inside Wells Fargo Arena.

Ranked #3 in the nation at 125 pounds, Robles found himself trailing 10-3 at the end of two periods on Sunday against #5 Andrew Long of Iowa State before turning things around in a big way. With the choice of starting positions for the final stanza, Robles chose top and fought Long back to the mat before locking him up and turning him three times for three points each turn to erase a seven-point deficit with nine points of his own for a 12-10 win. The win was his 10th in a row and raised his record to 24-2 overall this season and a perfect 15-0 in duals.
