Head coach Joanne Boyle
'It's always tough to come in to Pullman. There is a lot of travel. (Head coach) June (Daugherty) has been doing a great job with them and they had a big win last week, so we knew it was going to be about our defense because they rely so much on their guards and their penetration. We did a really good job with that. Down the stretch, I don't think we handled their pressure that well. We just got rushed. We have to take ownership of that and be big and flash and exploit it and get some layups and then they'll come off it. We didn't do that, but I thought we did a good job everywhere else. We got a big enough cushion that we were able to withstand the run at the end.'
'Flash hard, that's what I told them to do. To break a press, there isn't a lot you have to do. Just flash and move the ball. We had three people flashing to the same spot. It is very systematic. You flash opposite. You move the ball to the top of the press, and you attack it. Once we made the adjustment and people started flashing hard, we got a couple of layups.'
'In the first half, we were really good on wing entry passes. We were very active with our hands. We were playing defense in a stance. We weren't giving them easy looks. I think that got us some deflections and got us pushing tempo a bit.'
'Talia Caldwell did a good job for us tonight. She posted up well. She finished.'
'With DeNesha (Stallowrth), we have been emphasizing with her tempo and pace and playing full out. I think she is doing it at times and obviously that helps us out. When she gets down low and deep and can create moves on people, she is a very skilled post player, so she is able to do that. She did a good job at both ends of the floor tonight.'
Freshman center Talia Caldwell
'I was able to get more shots out there tonight. Usually when I shoot, I'm pretty efficient, but it is usually 2-for-4 or 1-for-3. Tonight I was able to get more shots and show I can be efficient. We practiced a lot on stealing and getting low positions so I could get easier looks. And that really worked.'
