TEMPE, Ariz. – The University of Arizona men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams topped Arizona State Saturday at the Mona Plummer Aquatic Center.  The men were victorious 212-87 while the women defeated ASU 196-102.


Senior freestyler Jordan Smith had a big meet for the men as he took both the 100 backstroke and 100 freestyle.  Smith also joined Craig Jordens, Nick Hadinger and Adam Small to win the 400 free relay in 3:00.87.


Men’s diver Ben Grado put up a season-high score of 414.60 in the 3-meter event to finish first.  Grado was also runner-up in the 1-meter event with a score of 375.60.


Former Sun Devil and breaststroke ace Marcus Titus took joy in topping his former team, winning the 100 breaststroke in 54.22.


Joel Greenshields placed first in the men’s 200 freestyle with a winning time of 1:39.86.  Greenshields’ next closest competitor was teammate Clark Burckle who came in at 1:41.23.


In the women’s meet, Alyssa Anderson took the 200 freestyle in a time of 1:47.93.  Anderson also swam in a plethora of events including the 100 fly and breast.


Another event winner was Annie Chandler who took the 100 breaststroke in 1:00.87.  The San Antonio native also exhibitioned her time in the 100 fly.


Junior Dana Christ won the 100 fly over teammate Genny Konicke with a time of 54.41.


Over the dual meet season, the UA men finished with a perfect 7-0 mark while the women were 8-2.  Both teams will now head to Long Beach, Calif. for the Pac-10 Championships.


The women’s championships run from Feb. 24-27 while the men will face the conference’s best a week later.
