Men's Golf Gears Up For Battle at the Beach

NEWPORT, Calif. - The No. 3 ranked ( Husky men's golf team starts its second tournament of the spring season on Sunday, playing in the Travis Mathew Battle At The Beach golf tournament at Pelican Hill Resort Ocean North Course (par-72, 6,945 yards) in Newport Coast, Calif.

The three-day 54-hole tournament began on Saturday, Feb. 13, with a College-AM tournament. On Sunday, Feb. 14, the opening round of the collegiate championship will tee off at 7:05 a.m., followed on Monday, Feb. 15 with second round action beginning at the same start time. Final round play concludes on Tuesday, Feb. 16 with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.

The inaugural Battle At The Beach features 14 teams from eight different conferences (Arizona State, Arkansas, Colorado, Colorado State, Long Beach State, Notre Dame, Oregon State, San Francisco, San Diego State, Tennessee, Texas-San Antonio, UC Davis, UCLA and Washington).

Each team has six players and five will count towards their score. Foursomes will consist of two members from each team that will play together the entire tournament.

Washington's pairs consist of Nick Taylor and Kevin Spooner, Richard Lee and Darren Wallace and Chris Williams and Charlie Hughes.
