No. 10 California Leads After First Round of Peg Barnard Invitational

The No. 10 California Golden Bears women's golf team ended the first round of the Peg Barnard Invitational at the Stanford Golf Course. The Bears posted a team score of 296, eight strokes better than the Stanford Cardinal and the Washington Huskies, who were tied for second place in the 36-hole tournament at the par-71, 6,092 yard course.

Junior Pia Halbig shot an even par 71, giving her the tournament lead after the first round. Sophomore Joanne Lee was in fifth place at +3. Senior Roseanne Niven was tied for sixth at +4.

The tournament will conclude on Sunday, Feb. 14 with the final 18 holes. The players will have a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Complete results will be posted late Sunday evening.
