Scott Pinckney Leads Men's Golf Affter First Round of Battle At The Beach

The men's golf team is in seventh place after the first round of the Battle at the Beach being held at Newport Coast, Calif., as it shot a 4-over 359 in the opening round Sunday. The Pelican Hill Golf Course (Ocean North) is the site of the tournament that will have two more 18-hole rounds on Monday at Tuesday.

Scott Pinckney had a 1-under 70 and is tied for 13th to lead the Sun Devils, while Jesper Kennegard is tied for 23rd at 71. James Byrne (1-over 72) is tied for 34th, Jin Song is at 2-over 73 (tied for 38th) along with Knut Borsheim. Thomas Buran is tied for 57th at 4-over 75.

Both Song and Buran are making their Sun Devil debuts. Fourteen teams are in the event, including sixth-ranked (Golfstat) Washington. Oregon State leads the event after one day at 7-under 348.
