Post game quotes: Feb. 20 vs Oregon

Recap | Final Stats

Head coach Joanne Boyle

'I am just happy to come away from this weekend with another win. We knew what we couldn't give them, and we gave them those looks early, but I thought we hunkered down and did a really good job on the boards and shooting freethrows late in the game to come away with the win.'

'They play uptempo, and we played all nine of our healthy bodies. A lot of times, you want to play a team like this first in a weekend when you are still fresh. We knew it was going to be a track meet, so maybe playing this late helped us. We looked tired, but they did, too. We have been in so many close games this year, we know what it takes to grind out the last five minutes. In this game, that is just what we had to do.'

On the three-pointer in the final minutes hit by Alexis Gray-Lawson

'That was huge for us. We actually set it up with two plays. We just ran a quick hitter. We got DeNesha the look on the same quick hitter with that play. We got a stop, came back down, and ran that same play and it got Lexi that look for a three at the baseline. I felt we could breathe a little bit at that point. We hadn't been hitting. We were 3-of-27 (from three-point range). You feel that one of them has got to fall. If you are going to pick one of them, that was a really good one to have fall for us.'

'Lexi understands. She has made huge shots for us in big games all the time. You chalk it up to another big shot in another big game.'

'We had some balanced scoring. I thought Gen did a great job on the boards. She had some put backs. She did a really good job at the freethrow line. DeNesha was getting her touches and finishing. Layshia started off really strong in transition. Then she got into foul trouble and got out of rhythm. Talia got some crucial put backs for us. If you are going to go far int his world of basketball, you need to have more people scoring for you.'

Senior guard Alexis Gray-Lawson

'In the first half, I was concentrating on trying to do really well on defense. Usually when I do really well on defense, the offense just kind of comes. Lately I have been having conversations with my coaches and my teammates about hustle plays and getting on loose balls. That is sort of my job with the team. And making sure that the person I am defending gets tough touches every night.'

Freshman forward DeNesha Stallworth

On how she has been been more patient with the ball

'I have been more patient with the ball, seeing if the double teams are coming or not. If they are not coming, I go to work. If they are coming, I kick it out and look for my guards, because I don't want to force anything.'
